Signs of Pregnancy
A late or missed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy. Yet, late or missed periods can happen if you are under stress. Sometimes your period is late or missed with no explained reason.
Other signs of pregnancy can be swollen breasts, nausea, urinating more often than usual, or feeling light-headed or dizzy. If you have questions about pregnancy, call our hotline at 402 554-1000 or visit our Omaha or Bellevue Office to take a pregnancy test.
How far along am I?
We can confirm a pregnancy by performing a pregnancy test. Once you know for sure that you are pregnant, an ultrasound can be scheduled to help you determine how far along you are. Visit one of our sites for the pregnancy test and to schedule the ultrasound.
Information about abortion:
The most common abortion in the early stage is a suction abortion. In later stages, as the baby grows, the procedure becomes more complex. Cost ranges from $450 to over $5,000 per procedure, depending upon the stage of development at which it is performed and the type of anesthetic that is used.
Call our hotline at 402 554-1000 for more information.
Health risks with abortion
Common side effects are: abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, and diarrhea.
While not as common, the following side effects have occurred: heavy bleeding, infection, reactions to drugs or anesthesia, damage to internal organs primarily the bladder, bowels, uterus and cervix and emotional impact-guilt, anger, anxiety, or depression.
Where can I go for help?
Essential Pregnancy Services has been assisting women with unplanned pregnancies since 1973. Both our locations, Omaha and Bellevue have available pregnancy test and ultrasound services. Our nurses, staff and volunteers are happy to share with you information about pregnancy, your options and the numerous other ways we can be of assistance with our free and confidential services.
How do I know if I have a sexually transmitted disease (STD)?
Have you had sex at least once? Do you have sex at least once monthly? Have you had more than one sexual partner? Has your partner had other partners? If you answer yes to any of these questions, there is a good chance you have an STD. There is no real way to tell unless you are tested. Visit either of our locations for a free STD screening and know for sure.
Call our hotline at 402 554-1000 for more information.
Where can I get tested for an STD?
Visit either of our locations for a free STD (Chlamydia and Gonorrhea only) STD screening and know for sure. Treatment for STD can be received at the Omaha EPS office.
